David Jarrett is a serial entrepreneur who most recently has been developing the Woodstock Academy of Music, a new, intensive two year music education program for college-age students. The institution, which is currently under development on a bucolic campus in Woodstock, New York, will offer a unique and innovative approach to music education, eschewing traditional classes and instead focusing on project-based experiential learning and genuine professional working opportunities in order to prepare students for successful lives in music.
Prior to co-founding WAM, David was best known for his work in the restaurant industry and involvement in the formation of Southern California restaurant and nightlife development firm The Dolce Group. As its Vice President, David led a rapid expansion of the company that included the development of twelve distinct brands, the establishment of approximately twenty locations spread across six US states and the Middle East, and a growth in staff from forty employees to over six hundred.
Apart from his principal ventures, David’s personal business portfolio currently includes The Short Bus, a party bus and limousine service in Los Angeles; SoCal Development Consultants, a land use, permitting, and licensing consultancy to the hospitality industry; and multifamily real estate holdings. As a startup investor or advisor, David has worked with organizations ranging from restaurants and nightclubs to a home accessories design company, a pet supplement manufacturer, a clothing store, a cabaret theater, and a medical clinic management software company.
In the nonprofit sector, David serves as the Treasurer of the Board for Hollywood Arts and as a Board Director for the Rock School Scholarship Fund.
